Larne YMCA’s Weekly Newsletter

Well folks, that’s us back fully to normality after a few weeks closed for Christmas and New Year. We hope you had an enjoyable and peaceful time whatever you got up to. Check out what we’ve been up to since we got back.

Afterschool Club

With schools returning back to a normal routine our afterschool programme has been as busy as ever! Our kids have been in fierce competition with the staff in a board game play-off thanks to a very kind donation of board games, it’s great seeing them gain a new lease of life and provide countless hours of entertainment for our members. Going into the new year, I am pleased to announce that we have a number of spaces become available in our Afterschool Programme, please see the attached flyer for more details – we would appreciate if you could share this information with people you think may be interested.

Autism Support Programme
Our Autism Support Programme has been busy over the past number of weeks, collating evidence and case studies for the yearly children in need return. As one funding cycle of this programme has come to an end, it is exciting to look forward to the future to plan the growth and development over the next three years – a big thank you to BBC Children in Need for giving us the opportunity to progress our project further.
Youth Club
Since coming back in 2020 our Staff, Volunteers and Junior Leader/Helper teams have been busy meeting and meticulously planning for the year ahead. Last night, our Youth Work Advisory Sub Committee met to discuss all things youth work-related in Larne YMCA… lots of important items discussed and a lot of input from staff, young people, parents and board members which is important to the development of youth work in Larne YMCA.

An important announcement this week… we are running a January Good Relations for anyone ages 9-13. The programme consists of a session, a trip and a residential with a few spaces still available. It is heavily funded through the Central Good Relations fund so the price for all aspects of the programme is only £25. Key details and an online signup form can be found be clicking the button below or talk to Dean/Adam in youth club tonight.

M-Power
Are you aged or know anyone between 17-24 looking for a new challenge? Why not take a look at our M-Power project, it is open to anyone within the Larne area and is currently recruiting! Want to know more? Have a look at the poster attached, drop us a message or contact Vicki on 028 2827 9331. Some of the things this project got up to last year included teambuilding at Carnfunnock Country Park, Residentials with other M-Power groups and lots of learning programmes at the YMCA.

We hope you have a great weekend no matter what you get up to.
